Pro-Eco
In 2000, SMS took over Pro-Eco Ltd., which was founded 1964 in Oakville, Canada. Just the year before, SMS had already acquired 75% of shares in the company, which was a global specialist in the manufacture of strip finishing lines and push-pull pickling lines.
Following the takeover, SMS expanded Pro-Eco into a center of excellence for push-pull pickling lines, cut-to-length and slitting lines, and stretch-leveling machines. Production Efficiency Company Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Pro-Eco, was merged with SMS Process Lines Division, founded 1995, to create Pro-Eco Strip Processing Systems Inc. The company, which continued operations up to 2009, was responsible for managing projects for continuous strip processing lines in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
Pro-Eco was renamed SMS Demag Ltd. at the end of 2003. In 2009, the company's name was changed to SMS Siemag Ltd. A year later, SMS Siemag Ltd. and Pro-Eco Strip Processing Systems Inc. were incorporated into the Strip Processing Lines division.
